Meet Dr. Harsha Vittal, widely published expert on gastrointestinal cancers. Dr. Harsha Vittal, Good Samaritan’s director of therapeutic endoscopy, is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. His views and research have been published in several respected, peer-reviewed medical journals. He performs the most advanced endoscopic procedures in the San Jose area. A proud member of the cancer care team at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dr. Vittal can today diagnose and stage cancers endoscopically. Not so long ago, these techniques were generally in use only at academic centers. selected as Outstanding Resident of the Year. He completed his Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Vittal completed an advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at the Maine Medical Center specializing in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection, and stent placement throughout the gastrointestinal tract.

He believes patients who are diagnosed with any form of gastrointestinal cancer need competent, compassionate physicians who understand that timely diagnosis and treatment are essential for the best outcomes. As a gastroenterologist and a therapeutic endoscopist, Dr. Vittal’s unique skills and advanced training allow him to diagnose various gastrointestinal malignancies in a minimally invasive, patient-friendly manner. When he has downtime, he enjoys spending time with his daughter, traveling, skiing, golfing, and hanging out with his friends.
