Good Samaritan Hospital has a new Chief Nursing Officer: Jerry Gonzalez, a highly experienced and accomplished healthcare leader with nearly 20 years of experience in nursing and nursing management. Jerry will oversee all nurses and nursing operations at the hospital, ensuring patients have the best experience and nursing care while at Good Samaritan.
“One of my main goals here is to be the top in HCA Healthcare’s Far West Division as far as patient experience and quality,” Jerry said. “We’re going to get there by working together. We have the team to do it and I know we can make it happen.”
Jerry spent the past three and a half years as the Chief Nursing Officer at Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, where he has worked since 2005. He also spent four years as the hospital’s associate Chief Nursing Officer and chief staffing officer. He was honored as Las Palmas Medical Center’s Nurse of the Year in 2016. Before he was at Las Palmas, Jerry worked as a nurse at Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, and earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in nursing from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Jerry is an active member of his local community. While at Las Palmas, he served as a board member of the El Paso Humane Society and also on the boards of the El Paso Independent School District’s Education Foundation and the El Paso’s Child Crisis Center. He’s a member of the Texas Organization of Nurse Executives, the Southwest Organization of Nurse Executives and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
“As nurses, we are here for one reason and one reason only -- and that is for the patient. I’m excited to work with my team to make sure Good Samaritan continues to be unparalleled in patient quality and experience.”
We’re excited to have someone with Jerry’s experience, commitment and leadership skills on board at Good Samaritan to take charge of our nursing program to help guide our incredible and hard-working nursing staff into the future.
