SAN JOSE. Calif. – The Good Samaritan Hospital Canned Food Drive Committee presented a $10,000 check to The Health Trust on January 10. With the help of 72 colleagues across the market, HCA Healthcare sorted and distributed over 108,304 pounds of food and served 1,672 meals during the year.

Good Samaritan was given the opportunity to award a $10,000 grant to a nonprofit of their choice as part of HCA Healthcare’s Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows effort, a national campaign aimed to help communities address food insecurity by providing nutritious meals to families in HCA service areas.

“We are aware that 1 in 9 Americans lack consistent access to nutritious food,” said Good Samaritan CEO, Patrick Rohan. “That’s why we are proud to make this contribution to such a vital resource within our community.”

The Health Trust supports health equity in Silicon Valley by providing grants and services for vulnerable community members and advocates for policy changes that align with their mission on a broader, county-wide level.
