Good Sam COO Named "Rising Star" By Becker’s Hospital Review

SAN JOSE, CA (01-05-11)— Faraaz Yousuf, Chief Operating Officer at Good Samaritan Hospital, has been named a hospital sector Rising Star by Becker’s Hospital Review (BHR).

BHR is a widely read national daily news feed covering hospital business and legal issues. This week it released its list of 25 Rising Stars, recognizing hospital leaders under age 40 with significant leadership roles and early track records of success.

Yousuf, 34, joined Good Samaritan Hospital as COO in January 2010. He is responsible for surgical, emergency, rehabilitation and out-patient services including diagnostic imaging, clinical laboratory, radiation oncology and wound care.

Yousuf is the youngest COO in the top tier of hospitals affiliated with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA).

Between the ages of 25 and 30, he oversaw $2.5 billion in facility development working on capital projects in the Western Group of HCA. As Director of Planning for the Western Group, he was part of the first team into New Orleans to evaluate how to reestablish healthcare services at Tulane and other HCA facilities in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

During his tenure with another healthcare system, he was part of a corporate team providing support to the community hospital closest to the Pentagon and receiving victims of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon.

Yousuf, his wife and two children are San Jose residents. He is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University where he also received his master’s degree in healthcare administration.
