There may be very little you can do to avoid primary brain tumors . You can do nothing about your heredity, which is one of the few known risk factors. Avoiding radiation and toxins is desirable, unless the radiation is used to treat a cancer. While it is difficult to reduce your risk of primary brain tumors, you can reduce your risk of tumors that may spread to the brain, including lung , breast , melanomas , and prostate.
