Our Leadership Team

CEO Paul Beaupre, MDPaul Beaupré MD, Chief Executive Officer

Years of working as an anesthesiologist prepared Paul Beaupré perhaps better than anything to become the CEO of San Jose’s Good Samaritan Hospital. In a profession that requires being on call day or night, Beaupré spent 22 years practically living at the hospital.

After extensive leadership service on the Medical Staff of Good Samaritan Hospital including election as Chief of Staff, Dr. Beaupré joined the senior leadership team of the hospital as Vice-President of Medical Affairs in 2004. In January 2010, he took the helm as CEO, succeeding the retiring Bill Piché.


Darina Kavanagh, CNODarina Kavanagh, RN, Chief Nursing Officer

Darina Kavanagh, MS, RN, CPHQ, was appointed chief nursing officer of Good samaritan Hospital of San Jose in November 2012, after serving most recently as CNO for Regional Medical Center of San Jose. Previously, Ms. Kavanagh was associate chief nurse officer at San Jose Medical Center, San Jose, CA; assistant director of nursing at Princess Grace Hospital in London; and held nursing staff positions at New England Deaconess Hospital, Boston, MA, and St. Vincent’s University Hospital in Ireland. Ms. Kavanagh earned her R.N. at St. Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, and her Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management at the Royal College of Nursing, London, U.K. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from San Jose State University, San Jose, CA, and was honored as a San Jose State University Outstanding Alumna in 2007.


CMO Arthur Douville, MDArt Douville MD, Chief Medical Officer

After a distinguished career as a neurologist in private practice, Dr. Douville became Chief Medical Officer at Good Samaritan Hospital to lead 21st century initiatives in quality improvement. Dr. Douville was highly instrumental in the hospital’s initial advanced accreditation as a Joint Commission-recognized Primary Stroke Center and was a co-investigator in several stroke treatment trials. As past Chief of Staff, he is uniquely positioned to engage the Medical Staff in continuous quality improvement focused on evidence-based medicine. He is a long-time member of the American College of Physician Executives.
