Maximize Your Recovery from Stroke, Injury or Illness

Good Sam's Inpatient Rehabilitation Program located at our Mission Oaks Campus is designed to provide comprehensive multi-disciplinary rehabilitation for adults. Our goal is to help patients maximize their recovery from injury or illness. Our program uses a combination of physical, occupational and speech therapy, as well as strong social support and family involvement.

Good Sam’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Program is accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) and is the only program in Santa Clara County to receive CARF accreditation with stroke specialty.

We can help those who have lost function or who are impaired because of many conditions, including:

• Stroke and other brain injuries
• Spinal cord injuries
• Degenerative neurological disorders like Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis or polyneuropathy
• Amputation
• Hip fractures or bilateral total knee or hip replacement
• Other debilitating conditions that mean the patient has lost independence in self-care and mobility

We work with patients and their families to deal with common functional problems including:

• Difficulty walking, climbing stairs, getting out of bed
• Difficulty swallowing
• Loss of coordination and balance
• Problems with speech or language
• Memory deficits or judgment difficulties
• Loss of bowel or bladder control
• Limitations due to pain
• Problems returning to work or everyday routine in the community

To be eligible for Good Samaritan’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Program, a patient must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Be medically stable and have the potential to participate in at least three hours of therapy each day
• Have potential to improve functional abilities like mobility and self-care
• Require at least two methods of therapy among occupational, physical and speech therapies
• Be able to follow directions needed to participate in the program
• Require medical intervention and 24-hour rehabilitation nursing care
• With family or support network, have a plan for discharge
