Opportunities for Adult and High School Student Volunteers

Auxilliary Volunteers Good Sam San JoseGood Samaritan Hospital has many opportunities for adults and for high school students to work within a variety of hospital settings. The Auxiliary is our volunteer organization, and the Auxiliary's purpose is to provide assistance wherever needed in the hospital. We do not perform medical or nursing duties. Instead, our dedicated volunteers bring an extra touch of friendliness and comfort to the patients and visitors of Good Samaritan.

No special skills are required, though they are appreciated. We work with our volunteers so their assignments closely match interests, skills and experience. Most volunteers come in once a week for 3-4 hours; a minimum of one year of service is anticipated. Our wide range of placements and shifts ensure we can arrange a volunteer schedule that's convenient for you whether you prefer week day mornings or an evening on the weekend.

Volunteers provide patient comfort in more than 20 different service areas at Good Samaritan Hospital, our Mission Oaks campus and the Breast Care Center. Volunteers are involved in medical, surgical and rehabilitation patient services, escort desk, medical records, gift shop, labor & delivery, mother baby services, pediatrics, pharmacy, cardiac care and the emergency room.

It's easy to join the Auxiliary and volunteer at the hospital. The Junior Auxiliary is open to high school students ages 14-18. The Auxiliary is open to anyone over the age of 18.

Junior Auxiliary (High School Students)

Students who volunteer at the hospital are able to serve their community while also getting a glimpse of the health care environment.

Thank you for your interest in the GSH Junior Auxiliary. To date, we have received 200 applications and the recruitment period for 2012 is now closed.

Auxiliary (Community members aged 18 and older)
